Weekly Update and Progress Report
Week: 7, 23rd  February to 27th February 2009

Programme:
Flagging commenced. HDM laying. Tree pit excavation. Lighting column sleeve and ducting excavation. No delay to programme.

Work Activity:

Mon
Formation level parallel to Boots graded and Terram and Geo-grid layers laid.

Lighting column locations set out and excavated. Electrical ducting for lighting columns laid.

Tues
Signage locations at top of site set out and excavated.

Ducts for rising bollard electrical supply laid.

Wed
HDM layer laid between the new ACO’s and the fence line on both sides of the new road area from the top of the site to mid point of the Litten Tree.

Heavily contaminated clay ‘wet spot’ identified approx 6m from New Look. Excavation was commenced upon the wet spot in order to re-instate. The excavation reached a depth of 1m before stable clay was located.

The wet spot appears to have been caused by a redundant gas pipe that had been cracked, causing water to pool around the pipe. This has caused the clay to become Gleyed.

Thurs
Another wet spot area was identified approx 5m from the area identified on Wednesday. This was excavated to a depth of 700mm before stable clay was located. Both wet spots had a Terram separation layer laid with a stabilising Geo-grid layer placed on top of the Terram. The excavations were then backfilled with concrete and capped.

Fri
Tree pit locations set out and excavation begun. The wet spot excavations backfilled on Thursday had Terram and Geogrid layers laid with the sub-base layer laid and rolled.

Flagging commenced at the top of the site. The setts delineating the road boundaries from the end of the ACO channel to the new kerb line were begun.

Next Weeks Programme:
Identification of any more wet spots at the lower end of the site. Flagging from the top of the site down in the central area. Prepping of lower end of site up to sub-base level.
