Sea View Road Week 21

8th October 2009

Weekly Report - Week 21

Week Ending 6th June 2008

The trees were planted along the entire site and have been watered regularly. The area in front of the Bay View Centre which was to have a fixed planter running along as per the design can no longer have said due to the concrete pad foundation to the building. There will be a delay in the installation of the planters due to a 6-8 week lead time on getting the planters to site.

Flagging continued in front of the properties and around the ironworks and tree pits. The area in front of the Dental Centre has proved problematic due to the level of the DPC and having to tie in with the existing road. The design on the drawings has the ACO drain running to the top of the job. It has been determined on site that that is not achievable as it is not possible to get the radius required with the straight ACO channel pieces. Given the gradient that exists at that location, the ACO has been stopped outside Inner Beauty and a kerb and sett design utilised instead. The water will still shed towards the ACO and thus adequate drainage will be achieved.

Public access from Bay View Road to Sea View Road was prevented for one day due to the issues outside the Dental Centre. All of the businesses and properties did have public access maintained during that day.

Due to a design change in the flow direction of the ACO drainage system from by Woods card shop to Station Road, part of Station Road was excavated in order to connect up the ACO channel into an existing drainage system. The area was topped with tarmac with a view to providing a temporary top that will allow public use until the construction of the next phase on Station Road. This will also allow for an easier removal of the excavated area during the next phase of works.

The contractor has been requested to repair a couple of defective slabs that constitute the steps opposite Spec Savers.
