Weekly Report - Week 18

Week Ending 16 May 2008

The tree grilles that were intended to be placed over the tree pits had to be returned to the manufacturers following an inspection that revealed that they had a defective paint job.

The feature was finally completed in terms of the flagging, with the exception of areas containing manhole covers etc. These will be completed in the following week. The flagging outside the businesses had to be suspended once it reached the mid point of the premises of G J Framing due to health and safety concerns. The transportation of construction materials was having to be taken over the pedestrianised areas which resulted in a dangerous working practice for both the public and contractors due to a narrow pedestrianised area. The flagging then concentrated on the area from the ACO drain line to the Bay View Centre side in order to flag up that area which could be utilised for the public to travel over which would result in the flaggers being able to continue with the flagging outside the businesses.

The corner of Spec Savers into the Ivy St car park had to have an extra grouping of setts laid in order to accommodate the meeting point of two different level grades.

The planter kerb line from the end of the Bay View Centre towards Bay View Road was constructed.

The design of the seating areas has been altered due to concerns about the design in terms of being able to fix the seating to small setts.
