Sea View Road Week 17

Weekly Report - Week 17
Week Ending 9th May 2008
Work commenced upon flagging outside of the business properties working from Motorworld up to towards Bay View Rd. The corner between Motorworld and the straight section from the end of Motorworld going towards Bay View Rd caused a delay in the works due to the flaggers having to undertake a large number of cuts in order to achieve a continuous grade and line through the transition.Once past the transition the work progressed well. The feature was nearly completed, but as already experienced with the rest of the feature it required a significant amount of time and labour to be devoted to its construction.
The design has caused the line and level of the new flagging to deviate from the original flag levels that were seen outside the properties in several areas. This is likely to continue along the entire job. The differing levels are due to the engineering team wishing to achieve a greater degree of water run off away from the buildings themselves than in the previous flag levels. It will also achieve a more pleasing aesthetic outcome in that it will allow for a greater continuous line and level to be achieved.
The site cabins were moved to a new position in order to allow for the hard road base to be constructed where they were placed prior to flagging.
An issue has emerged with the paint on the lighting columns. The paint supplied in order to touch up areas of the columns has not set correctly, leading to the paint remaining tacky to the touch. Wet paint signs have been placed upon all the columns affected and a new batch of paint is being requested from the suppliers.
The twinning sign has been handed over to a carpenter who is constructing a frame prior to it being placed upon the wall line of the Bay View Centre facing the project.
